Pet Care Services

dog walking & dog-sitting

We understand that being a dog parent is a full-time job, and it can be tricky when you have other commitments that your pup can’t come along to. With our flexible dog-care services, you can have peace of mind knowing that your best friend has someone checking in on them for exercise, cuddles and playtime when you need a helping paw. We are pleased to confirm we are now offering live-in dog-sitting for short breaks up to 3 nights to ensure your pup has all the attention and company they need whilst you’re away!

Our bespoke pet-sitting services are best suited to cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other household pets who need care while you are away, without the stress of having to travel to boarding kennels. Our pet-sitting services are fully customisable to suit yours and your pet’s needs from the comfort of their own home – you can choose how many visits they have per day and the length of those visits, to make sure they receive the same loving care that they do when you are at home with them.

outdoor pets

But what about outdoor pets? Horses, donkeys, goats, chickens – don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. We have 15 years’ equine care experience and can help you with feeding, mucking out, turning out/bringing in, and whatever else your beloved outdoor animals might need – especially through the winter when daylight hours are few and far between!

Whilst we have tried to cover most general queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions about a new or existing booking.

We are constantly reassessing our processes to ensure we are in line with current government guidelines with regards to COVID-19. This includes:

  • Hands will be sanitised on arrival and when leaving your home
  • All outdoor footwear will be left at the door
  • For dog-walking bookings, if you are at home at the time of your booking we kindly ask you to bring your dog to the door, ready for their walk, to avoid mixing indoors
  • Washable gloves will be worn for each home visit to further minimise the risk of cross-contamination in your home (1 pair of gloves per household, washed daily)
  • Social distancing guidelines will be adhered to at all times
  • Whilst it is not currently compulsory to wear a face mask inside private households, we will happily wear one for the duration of our visit to your home if that would make you feel more comfortable, provided your pet is not in any way upset or frightened by the appearance of face masks
  • We are encouraging all payments to be made via PayPal or bank transfer to minimise non-essential contact

Please contact us immediately if you, anyone in your household or anyone you have recently had close contact with is showing any symptoms of, or has tested positive for COVID-19. If we have any reason to believe we may be putting you at risk by visiting your home, we will notify you at once to cancel our booking and will do our best to help you source an alternative pet carer.

Due to a recent increase in demand, we have amended our services to offer overnight stays at your home with your pet for short breaks up to a maximum of 3 nights. Currently, we do not offer long break overnight stays (i.e. 4 nights or more) as a part of our standard services as this would limit our capacity to accept other bookings (and, ironically would result in needing to arrange pet care for our own pets!). However, exceptions can always be made to help you in last-minute or emergency situations, in which case we are always happy to have a chat and see if we can come up with a solution that works for everyone. Similarly, unfortunately we cannot offer pet boarding for clients’ pets to come and stay at home with us – as it would not be fair to our own fur babies to have other four-legged overnight guests who they don’t know coming to stay with us on such a frequent basis.

We can offer live-in dog-sitting at your home for short breaks up to a maximum of 3 nights. Our long break pet-sitting services (i.e. 4 nights or more) are best suited to cats, small animals (e.g. rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs etc.) and outdoor animals (e.g. horses, goats, chickens etc.) as we can effectively care for these types of pet through 1-3 visits per day. As most dogs are happier in round-the-clock company or can only be left for very short periods of time, it can be tricky for us to provide them the care that they need whilst you are away on holiday as we do not currently offer long-term overnight stays as part of our standard services (please see the previous FAQ). However, exceptions can always be made and we will always be as flexible as possible to accommodate you and your pets – we can offer extended hours, late evening & early morning visits with your dogs to ensure they have all the attention and company they need while you are away.

You can contact us via phone or email to tell us a little bit about your pet(s) and the services that you require – and we will put together a bespoke quote for you to cover everything you need. At the time of booking we will ask you for a 50% deposit to secure the reservation, and we will also send you a short questionnaire to fill out with some general questions about your pet, so we can make sure we are fully prepared to care for them. The remainder of the payment is due no later than 1 day prior to your booking.

We would usually operate on a 48hr cancellation policy, but with the current climate in mind we simply ask that you give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel your booking for any reason. We will try to be as flexible as possible to accommodate any changes in plans.

We kindly ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking in order to confirm your booking in our diary. The remainder of the balance is due no later than 24hrs prior to the beginning of your booking. We currently accept PayPal or bank transfer as preference, but will also accept cheque or cash if needed.

We will take the time to speak with you on the phone or via email prior to making a booking to ensure we can create a bespoke package to suit yours and your pet’s needs. If your pet has any medical conditions*, special requirements or needs a little extra help with something, just let us know as soon as you can so we are prepared to accommodate whatever they need. At the time of booking, you will be asked to fill out a brief questionnaire about your pet’s health and behaviour, which will give you further opportunity to inform us of any special requests.

*If your pet requires medication, please be aware that we are happy to administer any regular medications mixed in with their food, but unfortunately we cannot administer tablets.

We ask that for all pet-sitting bookings that you supply sufficient pet food, clean litter/bedding (i.e. cat litter, shavings, straw), toys and anything else that you would usually use for your pet for the length of your booking. For dog walks, please ensure you leave us an appropriate, well-fitting collar/harness and lead. We will bring biodegradable poo bags and a couple of emergency treats!

As part of your pet questionnaire to be completed at the time of booking, we will ask you for the name of your vet, the practice address and phone number. By providing us with these details, you give us your consent to take your pet to the vet in the case of an emergency, if we are unable to get in touch with you beforehand and believe that your pet requires urgent medical attention. If possible we will arrange for your practice to invoice you directly, otherwise any bills covered by Paddi-Paws must be reimbursed within 48hrs. If follow-up care is required for your pet whilst you are still away, we will discuss this with you on a case-by-case basis to ensure your pet is cared for and in safe hands until you return.

In the event of a non-emergency, for example if your pet shows mild symptoms of illness while you are away, we will inform you and will take your pet to the vet for you if you wish.

Please note that any time spent by Paddi-Paws taking your pet to the vet will be charged at your agreed hourly rate (+ fuel, if your veterinary practice is more than 10 miles away).

If your chosen pet care services require us to enter your home while you are not there, we will arrange a time prior to your booking to come and collect a spare key from you. This will also give you the opportunity to meet your Paddi-Paws representative, introduce us to your lovely pets and show us where we can find everything we need to look after them.
